Effects of Daylight Savings Time

Daylight savings time tend to affect us in so many ways. People may not be aware of the adverse effects this shift in the reading of time can have on their health and wellbeing. It is essential to know what it does, to understand why there is a push to have the End Daylight Saving Time practice abolished.

It shall mess up your internal clock. The internal clock, also called the circadian rhythm, refers to the sequence and natural setting of the activities of our hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is the part of our brains that controls most things in our bodies, such as our hormones and hunger signals. When you feel tired at the end of a long day, or resolve to keep working despite how you feel, or opted to buy junk food out of stress, it is usually the hypothalamus in charge. It shall keep you alert when you are at your freshest, and shall start slowing tour efforts down as you get tired and ready to rest. It has a natural ability to keep time, making the passing of time and making adjustments accordingly, until sleeping time. This time management in your body and all its internal systems shall be thrown in disarray when the daylight savings time change the natural order of things.

This outdated practice shall also mess up your sleep schedule. Concerning the circadian rhythm, the body shall have an increasing level of melatonin and a reduction of the waking hormones as the day progresses. This shall be in preparation for you to go to bed at the end of the day. When the time is reset, the body shall still be operating in the old schedule. To adjust, you will need a few weeks. During this period of adjustments, your body shall be unbalanced. You will move slower, think even slower, your motor skills will be jeopardy and other effects.  Check this service here!

Your driving skills shall also suffer. Since your internal clock is disarray and still shifting to the new settings, your hormone imbalances shall leave you in a state similar to that of a drunk. This explains why there are so many accidents during that period.

As expected, you will not fare well at work either. Your alertness and strength shall be sipped. This shall lave you unable to endure the long hours you normally do, or to be quick in your reactions and decisions. Your productivity shall suffer as a result. Workplace injuries are common in such cases, as are cases of people taking time off and calling in sick at the onset of the daylight savings period.
